1. Cream salad with chicken for dogs

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g.) chicken breast
  • ½ lb bacon (225g) chopped
  • 2 medium sweet potatoes (1 lb or 450 g.) chopped
  • 1 tsp dry basil or 1 tbsp fresh basil
  • 2 medium or large carrots shredded
  • 2 medium or large apples deseeded, peeled and shredded
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil or olive oil

Instructions:

  • Place the chicken, bacon, and sweet potatoes inside a saucepan and fill it with water just enough to cover the ingredients. Bring to a light boil and add the basil. Turn the heat down to medium and simmer for 30 minutes. 
  • Prepare the veggies and fruit. Wash the carrots and apples, deseed and peel the apples (no need to peel the carrots) and shred them. Set aside. 
  • When the chicken is cooked and no longer pink inside and the sweet potatoe has softened remove them from heat, drain the water and blend with a food processor. Add the coconut oil or olive oil to the food processor.
    If you have an immersive blender this will work too, but you might need to chop the cooked chicken first.
    If you have no blenders at home chop the chicken, mash the sweet potatoes and return the chicken to the saucepan. Mix well.
  • Once the chicken and sweet potatoes are mashed, add the shredded carrots and apples to the saucepan. Mix everything by hand and voila, you have got a tasty cream salad with chicken (and possibly bacon) for your dog.
  • Give 1 cup of this cream salad to a 10 lb dog. You can add 1 cup of kibble to this salad.

2. Bacon Wrapped Egg Salad Dogs

Ingredients:

  • For Bacon Wrapped Egg Salad Dogs
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup Heinz Real Mayonnaise 19 fl. oz. Bottle
  • 1 teaspoon Heinz Yellow Mustard 20 oz. Bottle
  • a pinch of kosher salt
  • a pinch of fresh ground black pepper
  • 8 Oscar Mayer Classic Wieners 10 ct Pack
  • 8 slices Oscar Mayer Bacon 16 oz. Package
  • 8 Country Sliced Hot Dog Buns – 8 CT

Instruction:

1. Add the eggs to a pot of water, making sure that there is at least 1 inch of water covering the eggs.  Bring to a boil and boil for 1 1/2 minutes.  Remove the pot from the heat, cover, and let the eggs sit in the hot water for 10 minutes.  Remove the eggs, place into an ice bath and let sit for an additional 10 minutes.  Peel and chop the eggs.

2. In a bowl, combine the hard-boiled eggs, Heinz Mayo, Heinz Yellow Mustard, salt, and pepper.  Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.

3. Wrap each hot dog with one slice of bacon and secure at each end with toothpicks.  Grill over medium-high heat for 10-12 minutes, or until bacon is golden and cooked through.

4. Serve the hot dogs on the Country Potato Hot Dog Buns and top with the egg salad.

5.  FOR CLASSIC HOT DOGS: Grill Oscar Mayer Wieners alongside your bacon-wrapped hot dogs.  Serve on Country Potato Hot Dog Buns topped with Heinz Ketchup and Heinz Yellow Mustard.

3. Chicken Salad For Dogs

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of chopped chicken meat (cooked or baked)
  • 3 medium carrots (shredded)
  • 2 apples (deseeded and shredded)
  • 2 cups baby spinach (chopped)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp dry rosemary or 1 tsp fresh rosemary
  • ½ cup kibble
  • 1 cup fried bacon bits (optional)

4. Chicago Dog Salad Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1⁄4cup yellow mustard
  • 2tablespoons vinegar
  • 1teaspoon sugar
  • 4tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1⁄2medium red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1cup shredded cabbage (or 1/2 of a 16-ounce sack shredded cabbage blend for slaw salads)
  • 1romaine lettuce hearts, shredded
  • 2tomatoes, diced
  • 3large garlic dill pickles, chopped
  • celery salt
  • black pepper
  • 8vienna beef hot dogs, sliced into 1-inch-thick slices on an angle

Direction:

  1. In the bottom of a large bowl, combine mustard, vinegar, sugar, and about 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil.
  2. Add the onions, cabbage, romaine, tomatoes, and pickles and toss the salad.
  3. Season with celery salt and pepper to taste and set aside.
  4. Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
  5. Add in the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil then arrange the sliced dogs in a single layer. Sear them for a couple of minutes on each side. Remove to paper towels to drain.
  6. Mound up the salad on plates, top with seared dogs, and serve.

5. Rice Salad With Assorted Vegetables

Ingredients

  • Preferred protein: chicken, beef, tuna (500 grams)
  • 2 cups of brown rice
  • 1 cup of broccoli
  • 1 cup of spinach
  • 5 cups of water or broth with no spices
  • 3 potatoes

Instructions

  1. First, wash all vegetables: broccoli, carrots, spinach, and potatoes.
  2. Then, peel carrots and potatoes.
  3. Clean the spinach.
  4. Next, chop the broccoli, carrots, and diced potatoes. Do the same with the protein, whether beef, chicken, or tuna.
  5. Then, add all the vegetables to a pan. Also, add the protein, rice, and broth.
  6. Cook over medium heat for 45 minutes.
  7. Once cooked, let it cool down.
  8. Finally, mix again and serve at room temperature.

6. Tuna And Vegetable Salad

Ingredients

  • One skinnless piece of tuna or 1 can of tuna
  • 2 celery stalks
  • 2 carrots
  • 1 teaspoon of olive oil

Instructions

  1. First, if you choose a piece of tuna, make sure it was skinned prior to cooking. If not, you can always use canned tuna.
  2. Then, cut the celery, carrots, and potatoes into small pieces.
  3. Next, cook the vegetables and let them cool down. Your pets don’t need things ‘al dente.’ It is best to cook the vegetables until they are soft.
  4. Once cold, mix the vegetables with the tuna and add the teaspoon of olive oil.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups Sunny Dog Barkin’ Herb & Garlic Cheddar small dice/crumbled
  • 3 tablespoons sour cream or yogurt
  • 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 4 tablespoons lime juice
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 6 cups corn about 8 ears, cut from the cob
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium red bell pepper chopped
  • ½ small red onion finely chopped
  • 2 jalapeños diced (seeds optional)
  • 5 green onions chopped
  • ½ cup fresh cilantro chopped

Instruction:

  1. In small bowl add the sour cream, mayonnaise, lime juice, cumin, paprika, salt and pepper. Mix until combined and set aside.
  2. Preheat the grill to medium-high.
  3. Brush the corn with olive oil.
  4. Grill the corn turning the ears often so they cook evenly, until lightly charred, about 8 to 10 minutes.
  5. When cool enough to manage, stand each ear of corn on a smaller bowl (that is upside down) within a large bowl. Using a sharp knife, cut down along the cob to strip off the kernels. Remove the small bowl when completed.
  6. Add half of the cheese, bell pepper, onion, jalapeños, green onions, and cilantro to the corn and mix well.
  7. Next add the sour cream mixture and stir until all the ingredients are incorporated.
  8. Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the top and serve.

8. Grilled Corn Salad Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 5 ears corn shucked & silks removed
  • 3-4 jalapeno peppers seeds removed, diced
  • ¼ cup fresh mint leaves rough-chopped (1 tablespoon reserved)
  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro leaves rough-chopped
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2/3 cup crumbled Cotija or Queso Fresco cheese 1 tablespoon reserved
  • 3 tablespoons freshly-squeezed lime juice
  • 3 tablespoons neutral oil such as canola or a blend
  • 2 teaspoons agave syrup or honey
  • ½ teaspoon kosher or sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ¾ cup dry-roasted peanuts toasted chopped hazelnuts or pistachios
  • Garnish with the reserved mint leaves and Cotija cheese

Instructions:

  1. Grill the corn until lightly charred on all sides. Transfer to a plate and let cool to the touch. Cut off the corn kernels and place them in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Add diced jalapeno, most of the mint, cilantro, Parmesan and most of the Cotija cheese to the corn. Mix well.
  3. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together lime juice, oil, agave syrup, salt and black pepper. Whisk briskly for about 1 minute. Pour the vinaigrette over the corn mixture and toss until all ingredients are coated. *See note about making ahead.
  4. Directly before serving, add the peanuts and gently mix to combine.
  5. Garnish with the reserved cheese and mint leaves.
